I was totally shocked and astonished, the way we are creating awareness amongst our younger generation especially girls. TV and media are also responsible for creating such an image. A father or a friend handing over a 'condom' to a student, who is going for higher studies away from his home. What message does it convey to youngsters, especially girls? Such type of advertisements deviate the younger generation from the real values of sex and its related implications. Sex is a conspiracy of hormones. This is one physical need of living generation, which is to be tackled maturely, cautiously and with patience. We are supposed to teach our youngsters that there is hardly any, sex which is 'safe'. Leaving aside the physical diseases associated with sex, the psychological problems should also be informed to the students. What is the right age of having sex and preferably avoiding sex is the only remedy to overcome such ailments, should be clear in the minds of teenagers. Adopting artificial means can also be taught to the youngsters, in case the need be. I am to request all the authorities, media persons and other social organisations to disapprove the lectures/advertisements/teachings of 'Safe Sex' as the only remedy to avoid AIDS and other such ailments. A couple of weeks back, I have had the opportunity to attend one seminar on AIDS awareness in local girls college. Every speaker, one after another, emphasized upon 'Safe Sex' and the means available in the market to make sex 'Safe'.
